COVID19 Update

Following recent relaxation to government rules around activity during the Covid19 pandemic we have updated our guidance on the NAS website, to view CLICK HERE

Allotment Shops
Many of you may be aware that Garden Centres have begun to re-open and are considering re-opening your Allotment shops. The Society considers that unless you are able to comply with the stringent conditions within the Horticultural Trades Association guidance for Garden Centres (CLICK HERE to view) that Allotment shops should remain physically closed with an online/remote system in place.

AGMs
At the present time the government has prohibited by law all public gatherings of more than two people, this means that Associations should postpone their annual meetings until restrictions have been lifted. The FCA will not take action against incorporated bodies whilst restrictions are in place. If it is allowed by your constitution and all your plot-holders are able to participate it may be possible to hold a remote AGM. Contact This email address is being protected from spambots. A new team to look after your insurance needs

As a niche specialist broker, Chris Knott Insurance was delighted when the NAS Insurance scheme’s provider asked us to look after members going forwards in place of Shield Total Insurance. Chris Knott is here to service your policies, support you as a customer and provide expert professional advice when you need it.

Personal service is important – a handhold at the right time; an explanation of your cover and how it meets your risks; offering our skills and experience to make your life easier; and ongoing support that you can rely on.
For those who don’t already know, our Allotment Association Insurance is very affordable - starting at just £65 for the year. NAS members will continue to benefit from a 25% discount on premiums.

Existing clients can be assured that your policy wordings, terms and conditions remain unchanged. We’ll invite your renewal in plenty of time but if you’d like to speak to us in the meantime here are our contact details:

News from the Northern Region

A message from Neal Storey, Chairman - Northern Branch.

We hope you are all fit and well, and have still been able to attend your allotments safely and your gardens are all planted out. I am taking this opportunity to keep you informed that the Northern Branch is still working along with Corby, to address issues that might come along and can still be contacted in the usual ways, so don't be afraid to get in touch with any concerns. The Committee are still discussing ways in which we can possibly benefit the Northern Region as a whole and promoting us further as a region. I wonder how many of you noticed NAS Chairman John Irwin on the "Tonight" program last week promoting allotments.

We did have plans to attend several shows this year until the pandemic closed all public meetings. As soon as the Government allow public gatherings we will look at what we can feasibly do and get out there flying the banner. We will be also rearranging our general members meetings and also most importantly our AGM; as we had to postpone it due to current situation.

I cannot wait to see all your smiling faces again, it seems like a lifetime ago we were able to hold meetings and we are keen to hold the next as soon as possible, once it is safe to do so. Well, not to bore you too much I will wish you all a safe and relaxing time in your allotments and hopefully see you all soon. Keep Safe.

Our facebook page is somewhere for you to share news and views. @NASnorth facebook
